Treatment in Infertility
The cause of infertility is determined after all searches and tests have been performed required to identify the underlying cause, and the most appropriate treatment method is decided together with the couple.
In some cases, no cause is able to find leading to infertility. This can occur in 20% of infertile couples and is called unexplained infertility. Even if this is the case, the couples can benefit from infertility treatment and have children.
The cause and length of infertility, and the age of the woman are considered when deciding on treatment method.
Assisted Reproduction Techniques Used For Treatment
In Vitro Fertilization (IVF, ICSI)
If examinations reveal that the woman does not ovulate, ovulation can be enabled by drug treatment. Regular ovulation is achieved in over 80% of women using ovulation drugs.
In this case, ovulation induction (ovulation treatment) is one treatment option.
With this treatment method, the woman is stimulated to ovulate by fertility drugs, and development of eggs is monitored by ultrasonography. When the egg has reached an adequate size, the pregnancy will be attempted to achieve through normal sexual intercourse.
An average chance of pregnancy following a treatment period is around 10%.
