One in five diabetes patients develops a foot ulcer, a chronic wound or an infection problem at some point in his life and if the problem is not handled well it may lead to amputation in some of the patients.

The main reasons for the diabetic foot syndrome are

• neuropathy,
• peripheral arterial disease,
• foot deformation,
• infection

However, in most cases, diabetic foot syndrome develops as a complex case where most of these factors occur simultaneously and contribute in varying levels. For this reason, multiple medical specialties are required for the diagnosis and treatment of diabetic foot complications. And the best results are achieved when these specialties work together in a well-coordinated manner.

The Diabetic Foot and Chronic Wound Board is established with this necessity in mind. Physicians with relevant specialties gather at board meetings to analyze each patient and make plans for the fastest and most efficient treatment options for his condition.

With this multidisciplinary approach, we intend to diagnose and make treatment plans for the patient with diabetic foot complications in a single session, without having to send the patient to various clinics, and to come up with fast and effective solutions.
